1. Stay away from competitive broad niches.
The first step is to stay away from niches that are too broad.
Obviously the weight loss niche is too broad. The best way to make
any traction here is to promote specific weight loss products. If
you are in a very big niche like weight loss, try to focus on the
newest products first. Products that have been out for a few years
will have a lot more websites competing for the keywords than the
products that are new. You can still make money promoting older
weight loss products, but it will be easier to rank the newest
products on the market.
2. Pay attention to radio ads.
I have found that many people do not pay much attention to the ads
that come on the radio. If you listen to the radio every day, and
you hear the same ad for the same product every day, then there is
a good chance that you could sell this product yourself. Keep in
mind that a radio ad that runs on a nationally syndicated program
will easily run thousands of dollars. No advertiser is going to

4. Pay attention to the junk mail.
Another way to find obscure niches is to pay attention to the junk
mail that arrives at your home. I’m not talking about the latest
coupons for MacDonalds. Pay attention to other obscure direct mail
pieces that arrive at your house. If you see the same ads being
sent through the mail time and time again, then this is probably a
great niche to target.
